Cathy Bessant is chief operations and technology officer at Bank of America, with a team of 95,000 people in over 35 countries. In this role she also oversees the company’s business continuity and information security efforts. Since 1982, she has led several lines of business, including consumer, small business, commercial, and corporate banking.
Bessant led the creation of the Harvard Council on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence, and serves on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. American Banker named Bessant the Most Powerful Woman in Banking for the last three years. Bessant serves on the board of Zurich Insurance Company, is on the board of trustees for The Urban Institute, is a member of the USA Field Hockey board, and is on the advisory board of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
