Session Information

Stefan Happ is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Global Prepaid & Alternative Payments at American Express. In this role, Stefan has P&L responsibility for the digital prepaid business across international markets and in the United States, encompassing business development, client management, marketing and product development, and new digital and mobile payment capabilities and services, including the LianLian Group digital wallet in China; Bluebird, in partnership with Walmart; Serve, the company's next-generation payments platform; Loyalty Edge, an emerging leader in the loyalty space; as well as the AXP single load and gift card business.

Stefan has been recognized as the 2016 Industry Achievement Winner by Pay Awards. He previously served as SVP and GM for the U.S. prepaid business, relaunching American Express Serve in 2013, which has won numerous industry awards and is now available in over 30,000 retail locations nationwide, as well as leading the dramatic growth of the American Express Gift Card and Reward Card franchises in the United States and Canada. He spearheaded the company's introduction of the ground-breaking family of reloadable prepaid cards, both through the American Express e-commerce channel and through numerous distribution partnerships.

Prior to moving to the U.S., Stefan spent ten years at a number of American Express divisions and functions in the UK and Continental Europe, and served as a board member on three joint ventures.

He began his career at British Airways, where he held a number of positions with increasing responsibility in sales, marketing and operations in the United Kingdom as well as Central and Eastern Europe. He holds a BA from University College London and an MBA from Lancaster University Management School.
