Session Information

Naol is an entrepreneur focusing on blockchain technology and smart contracts. He is an expert on blockchain-based applications, FinTech and distributed governance models, protocols, and systems. Over the past years he has worn several hats as a researcher, academic, software engineer, systems consultant, and, in general, as an autodidact with diverse interests. He finds inspiration in Bitcoin and related decentralization technologies such as Ethereum, the world computer, and is keen on using these and similar platforms to build novel socio-economic systems and applications. Originally from the capital of Ethiopia, Naol has lived in Amsterdam and currently resides in New York City. When he is not consulting with startups in the FinTech space, or designing protocols and smart contract systems, he explores innovations using blockchain and other exponential technologies so as to help leapfrog the Horn of Africa market to next-generation infrastructure. He is affiliated with the global nonprofit Network Society Research, which looks at a decentralized future of social and economic organization. He is also the founder of BitGadaa, a blockchain DAO modeled after the principles and structures of Gadaa, the indigenous system of governance of the Oromo people. His research interests are at the intersection of technology and society.
