Session Information

Margaret is a principal in EY’s Banking practice and the Americas lead for Payments. As a former senior executive with First Data and Bank of America, she offers clients a distinct combination of payments consulting experience and industry leadership. Her 20 years of global experience has included payment projects in North America, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Margaret brings unparalleled experience in all areas of payments, with experience in government regulation, issuers, acquirers, processors, merchants, networks, corporate payment players, alternative payment providers and POS vendors and software providers.  Margaret has a unique combination of business, process and technology perspectives on the payments business and related payments ecosystem economics.

An entrepreneur who started her own merchant payment processing company and sold it to First Data, Margaret has proven experience leading transformational payments initiatives, leveraging technology, process and strategy resources. Throughout her career, her entrepreneurial activities have resulted in 14 US patents, all in payments. Margaret has published extensively in the payments industry, including academic papers in response to major regulatory shifts like the Consumer Financial Protection Act.

Relevant experience

Has held the following positions:SVP, Global Head of Product Marketing at FDCSVP, Strategy, Innovation & Payments at Bank of America.SVP, Business Planning and Analytics for e-commerce/ATM/mobile at Bank of America.At FDC, Margaret led global product marketing for First Data’s largest line of business, focused on merchant payments with $3.5 billion in annual revenue.  She was also responsible for channel relationships with major merchant acquiring banks. At BAC, Margaret’s Payment Strategy role involved coordination of all BAC payment network relationships, Over 15 years of experience working with retailers and other merchants on payments point of sale innovation, and has led a range of POS transformation  initiatives related to IP at the POS, innovative POS software, new terminal deployment, tokenization and encryption and other POS risk solutions.
