Session Information

Jack Stephenson joined First Data in January 2014 and is responsible for strategy, partnerships and client solutions in digital commerce and mobile payments.  Jack oversees First Data’s Mobile Solutions team, which builds solutions for First Data clients who range from micro-merchants to the largest Tier 1 retailers, and from community banks to the largest financial institutions in the U.S.   He is also responsible for developing partnerships with Silicon Valley-based companies, payments networks and alternate distribution channels.

Jack brings 25 years’ experience working at the intersection of financial services, technology and innovation. Prior to joining First Data, he was Managing Director of Mobile, E-Commerce and Payments for JPMorgan Chase, where he oversaw mobile banking, Internet payments, and payments innovation.  Before that, Jack was Senior Vice President of Strategy, Partnerships, Analytics and New Ventures at PayPal. He ran PayPal's mobile and co-branded card businesses, built their business intelligence and analytics unit, and helped lead PayPal’s expansion into consumer credit with the acquisition of Bill Me Later. Stephenson spent 22 years at McKinsey & Company, where he rose from temp worker to senior partner in the Financial Institutions Group.  Jack co-founded and led McKinsey’s Payments Practice, serving banks, credit card companies, processors, telecom operators and technology companies around the world on strategy, technology and operational issues. Jack is a recognized expert in payments, and has been a frequent speaker and author on topics related to digital commerce.

Jack has served on the boards of the San Francisco Aids Foundation, GoPago, the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Center for Market Innovation at the Natural Resources Defense Council Jack also has two decades experience working with leading environmental NGOs focused on international biodiversity conservation and climate change issues.

Jack graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and is based in Palo Alto, California.
