E-Bai Koo is a 18 year veteran of American Express, and is currently the Executive Vice President of Global Product Management within our Global Commercial Payments business. In this role, he is responsible for understanding the needs of our commercial clients, from small businesses to large and global companies, designing the right value propositions for them, and defining the product line strategy and investment roadmap for the Global Commercial Payments business.

Prior to  this role, E-Bai served as the Senior Vice President of Global Network Business & Accertify (GNB&A) within our Global Merchant Services & Loyalty Partners (GMS&L) business. In GNB&A, he was responsible for American Express’s global payments network, commercializing products and capabilities for our proprietary and non-proprietary Issuing and Acquiring partners, and for managing Accertify, a wholly owned subsidiary that specializes in fraud and disputes management.  Prior to that role, E-Bai served as the Senior Vice President of Global Strategy and Capabilities (GS&C) within GMS&L. In this capacity, he oversaw our merchant processing, payments consulting, core merchant platforms and capabilities, merchant satisfaction and coverage, and training and enablement of our customer-facing Merchant Acquisition and Client Management organizations.  

Before joining GMS&L, he spent 9 years within our U.S. Consumer Services business, serving in numerous roles including as Head of U.S. Consumer Services Strategy and Planning, Vice President for Marketing Services, New Product Development, and Bank & Regulatory engagement, Vice President & General Manager of our Proprietary Card Lending business, and Vice President and General Manager of our Starwood and Hilton hotel Co-brand Card portfolios.  E-Bai also served as the U.S. Consumer Card lead for pricing strategy and regulatory affairs, spending an extensive amount of his time on UDAAP/Card Act implementation, and worked closely with Government Affairs and Bank Associations where he frequently represented American Express at industry and government forums.  

After arriving at American Express in 1997, he spent his first six years in GMS&L in a variety of groups, including the Strategic Relationships Group, New Industry Development, and Client Management Strategy.   E-Bai is also a Six Sigma Improve and Design Black Belt certified by the Six Sigma Academy.

E-Bai is a graduate of Duke University with a B.A. in Political Science, and a minor concentration in Art History.
