Pinar Abay was appointed as a member of the Management Board Banking and head of Market Leaders per 1 January 2020, thereby taking up the responsibility for ING’s operations in the Benelux. Prior to her current role, Pinar was CEO of ING in Turkey, a role she has held since joining ING in 2011. Next to that, in 2016 Pinar became a non-executive member of the board of ING in Belgium. Before joining ING, Pinar was a partner at McKinsey & Company in Turkey, in charge of consultancy for the banking sector. She started at McKinsey in Istanbul in 1998 and also worked in San Francisco and New York, serving US-based banking clients. Pinar was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1977. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bilkent University, Turkey, and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School, USA.
