From volunteer movement to global fintech force

ACCELERATING DISABILITY INCLUSION IN FINTECH
Project Nemo is proof that impact doesn’t require scale, it requires conviction. Born from a conversation at Money20/20 Amsterdam, the volunteer-led initiative set out to transform disability inclusion across financial services, turning accessibility from an afterthought into an industry priority.

The Challenge
Without funding, brand recognition or institutional backing, Project Nemo faced a familiar challenge: credibility. Early workshops inspired audiences, but the team needed a way to scale their message and drive real change.
Their breakthrough came through storytelling. Instead of presentations, they created powerful films capturing the lived experiences of people with disabilities navigating financial products in the real world. These human stories reframed accessibility from compliance to competitive advantage, and gave the industry a new lens for innovation.
The Impact
Winning the Diamond Grand Prix at The Money Awards 2025 marked a defining moment. The recognition propelled Project Nemo from grassroots initiative to global voice, opening doors with major banks and corporates that had previously been out of reach.
More importantly, it validated a bigger idea: that meaningful industry change can come from anywhere, and not just the largest players.

The Results
Since then, Project Nemo has helped reshape how financial services approach accessibility. Conversations once driven by caution are now led with confidence, with organizations increasingly treating inclusion as a differentiator rather than a risk.
The initiative has grown into a recognized movement, complete with a shared resource hub and a growing network of partners working toward a more inclusive financial future.

Winning this coveted global award on stage in Vegas has really made global corporates sit up and pay attention to what we are doing, what we stand for and crucially, what action we're calling on to drive disability inclusion. For any organization thinking about entering these awards, I would say do it. This award sets us apart.
